Cap and Breeze: Enhancing Oral Functionality

Cap and breeze treatments, commonly referred to as dental crowns and bridges, are essential restorative procedures that play a crucial role in enhancing oral functionality and aesthetics. Dental crowns, or caps, are custom-made restorations placed over damaged or weakened teeth to restore their shape, size, strength, and appearance. This procedure is often recommended for teeth that have undergone extensive decay, have been treated with root canals, or have suffered fractures. By providing a protective cover, crowns help prolong the life of the affected teeth, preventing further deterioration.

The Bridge Solution

Bridges, on the other hand, are dental appliances designed to replace one or more missing teeth, thereby bridging the gap left behind. A bridge consists of two or more crowns placed on the teeth adjacent to the empty space, known as abutment teeth, with a false tooth or teeth (pontics) in between. This restoration not only restores the smile’s appearance but also improves the ability to chew and speak, preventing the remaining teeth from shifting out of place.

The Procedure

The process of obtaining crowns and bridges typically involves multiple visits to the dental office. During the initial consultation, Dr. Sambuddha Chakrabarty will assess the condition of the teeth and create a personalized treatment plan. After preparing the affected teeth, impressions will be taken to ensure a perfect fit for the crowns or bridges. Temporary restorations may be placed while the custom pieces are crafted in a dental laboratory. Once ready, the final restorations will be carefully bonded to the natural teeth, providing a durable and aesthetically pleasing solution.

Aftercare and Maintenance

After the placement of crowns and bridges, proper oral hygiene is paramount for ensuring their longevity. Patients are encouraged to maintain a regular brushing and flossing routine, along with routine dental check-ups. Regular maintenance helps prevent issues such as decay or gum disease that could compromise the integrity of the crowns or bridges. With appropriate care, these restorations can last for many years, contributing to improved oral health and overall well-being.
